Gulfport police release identity of fatal shooting suspect

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Gulfport police have identified the man charged with a murder outside a nightclub early Sunday morning. Aaron Fields, 26, of Gulfport is charged in the death of Xavier Monroe.

Monroe, 25 was shot in the chest outside the Eclipse lounge on Highway 49 in Gulfport.

Fields was arrested Monday after investigators found him driving on Pass Road. According to investigators, surveillance video helped lead them to Fields.

Gulfport Police told WLOX News it does not appear that there was any relationship between the Fields and Monroe that would provide a motive for the shooting.
