The Sears store and Auto Center in Gautier announced they will close to the public in mid-October. Until then, the store and auto center will remain open for customers, according to a Sears spokesperson.
That store will begin its liquidation sale on July 26.
Sears issued this statement:
"Store closures are part of a series of actions we're taking to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business model. These actions will better enable us to focus our investments on serving our customers and members through integrated retail – at the store, online and in the home."
The Gautier location has 71 employees. The company says they will have an opportunity to apply for positions at other Kmart and Sears stores.
Reporter Doug Walker is covering this story he'll have more details later on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
