LSU running back Jeremy Hill and Robert Bayardo, who is not an LSU student, were charged Monday by the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney's Office.
The two men were formally charged with misdemeanor simple battery following a late April fight in a bar parking lot.
LSU head coach Les Miles had suspended Hill after the incident pending the outcome of the case. His status for the 2013 season remains up in the air because Hill was on probation from his plea of misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 2012.
District Attorney Hillar Moore says Hill's probationary status most likely won't be considered for possible revocation until the charges have been resolved.
Hill and Bayardo will be arraigned on Friday.
Hill was LSU's leading rusher last season.
