DMR: Drowning victim found south of Horn Island

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

Someone drowned in the waters three miles south of Horn Island Thursday, but few other details are know about the victim or the circumstances of the death.

At 9:30pm, officials with the Department of Marine Resources told WLOX News the victim's body was being brought into Bayou Casotte in Pascagoula by a fishing vessel that's being escorted by DMR Marine Patrol. Waiting on shore are Jackson County Coroner Vicki Broadus and an Acadian Ambulance Unit.

    An effort to increase safety and reduce emergency response time in Biloxi is officially underway. The project that will come out of the ground at a cleared site in Woolmarket will provide a blanket of security for an area of Biloxi that previously didn't really have one.
