Mississippi public university tuition increases

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Tuition and fees will rise at Mississippi's public universities this fall. Across the eight schools, Mississippi residents will see average tuition for two semesters (fall and spring) go up by an average of 6.4% to $6,329.

Rates for certain professional programs will go up by different amounts. Here are the rates approved by the College Board for each university, as well as the percentage change from the 2012-2013 academic year:

  • Alcorn State: $6,108, up 6.9%.
  • Delta State: $6,012, up 5%.
  • Jackson State: $6,348, up 6%.
  • Mississippi State: $6,772, up 8.1% (includes a $50-a-semester facilities charge approved in November).
  • Mississippi University for Women: $5,640, up 6.1%.
  • Mississippi Valley State: $5,916, up 5.1%.
  • University of Mississippi: $6,760, up 7.6% (includes a $50-a-semester facilities charge approved in November).
  • University of Miss. Medical Center: $6,660, up 6%.
  • University of Southern Mississippi: $6,744, up 6.4%.
