D'Iberville's new city leaders focused on traffic, development

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - A crowd of family and friends filled D'Iberville City Hall Monday to watch as Mayor Rusty Quave was sworn in to serve a sixth term in office. Council members also took the oath of office, three of them for the first time.

D'Iberville is experiencing some phenomenal retail growth with plans for another mall, an ocean expo, as well as a casino. The mayor told WLOX News that with all that growth come challenges.

"We are overwhelmed with traffic right now," Mayor Rusty Quave said. "Any given day, we can have 20,000 vehicles on the streets of D'Iberville. So that is something that is a challenge and we accept that and we are working on it. Right now, as we talk, the highway department is putting in $30 million of on and off ramps."

The mayor also said when he took office, he never envisioned that the city would become such a retail hub.
