Horton named Jackson Police Chief

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Mayor Chokwe Lumumba has officially named Deputy Chief Lindsey Horton as the new Jackson Police Chief.

WLBT learned Horton was selected last week, but city officials and Mayor-Elect Chokwe Lumumba's campaign would not confirm the appointment.

Horton joined JPD in 1985. According to the police department's website, he is the Deputy Chief for the Administrative Support Division.

Lumumba has also named Willie Owens as Jackson Fire Chief.
