Child falls into sinkhole in north Jackson

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A 6-year-old boy fell into a sinkhole in northeast Jackson today.

The boy's mother, Felicia Henderson, said her son Landon Reese was riding his bike on Northtown Road when he fell into the giant sinkhole.

The sinkhole was filled with water at the time the child fell in.

A woman, identified as Tai Shelby, pulled the boy out of the sinkhole.

We are told the woman saw the child waving his hands above the water and pulled him to safety.

Viewers told WLBT the sinkhole is about five feet deep.

Two large orange barricades are placed near the gaping hole.

Henderson says her son suffered a cut on his face from scraping the asphalt.
