Man's truck tire gets stuck in two foot sinkhole

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson driver's truck tire got stuck in about a two foot sinkhole Saturday.

Bo Zimmerman parked his truck in the 16 hundred block of Linden Place in the Belhaven neighborhood.

He says the truck had only been parked for a matter of minutes before he found it in at least a two foot hole. He eventually reached public works who put up a barrier around the hole, once Zimmerman was able to remove the truck.

Crews were not able to repair the sinkhole Saturday.

Zimmerman says it was a shock to see the pick up falling into the ground.

"Walked out, the closer I got to the truck I noticed the sinkhole and sure enough that was not there when I parked the truck. It must have happened within the five minutes that I went into the house. It looks like it's pretty deep now. I'm a little worried its gonna take the rest of the truck with it, kind of like the Old Canton Road situation over in Fondren. So, we will see," Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman says capital city streets are getting worse.

He hopes a new mayoral administration will take the problem seriously.
