RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Ridgeland police say an armed, shoeless man attempted to rob the Little Caesars Pizza on Highway 51 Thursday around 4 p.m.

According to Sgt. Tony Willridge, a white male went into the store and brandished what appeared to be a revolver. The man reportedly approached the female at the counter and demanded money. The woman then ran to the back of the store.

Willridge said the attempted robber didn't know how to operate the cash register and left without money. The man reportedly fled the store on foot.

A manhunt is underway in the highly residential area for the attempted armed robber. Police have advised residents in the surrounding area to stay indoors and call them if they see anything suspicious.

The man was last seen wearing khaki shorts and a white shirt, according to police. Authorities had previously said the man was barefoot but later updated the description to include socks. It's unclear what color the socks were.
