BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - Several Bay St. Louis residents have given up their fight to stop the construction of a beachfront comfort station.
The citizens filed a lawsuit against the Hancock County Board of Supervisors in March objecting to the location alleging the comfort station would lower property values and obstruct views of the beach.
The case was set to go to trial Tuesday, but in court papers filed Monday, the residents asked that the lawsuit be dismissed.
Their attorney Henry Laird told WLOX News his clients decided continuing the legal battle was too costly. Construction on the elevated structure began several months ago. The comfort station is located on Beach Boulevard at Washington Street on land the county leases from American Legion Post 139.
