Vicksburg police officer's home destroyed by fire

VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Vicksburg police officer loses his home, while on duty.

Officer Dewayne Powers received the call about 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

He, along with his wife and kids lost everything after their Pleasant Valley Drive home went up in flames.

No one was injured.

Investigators tell us the blaze started in the kitchen, but it hasn't been determined how it started.

A motorcycle was also destroyed in the fire.
