Cohen restoring Bulldog tradition

John Cohen had some uphill battles to fight when he took over for Ron Polk at MSU following the 2008 season. His first two years did not live up to the standard Mississippi St. fans were used to.

MSU went (25-29) in 2009 and did not make the NCAA tournament. In 2010 they went (23-33) and finished just (6-24) in SEC play. There was worry starting to creep in that Cohen was not the right hire.

Meanwhile the State skipper and his staff were working hard on the recruiting trail, selling to players their vision of what the program could eventually be.

The turnaround started late in the 2011 season when MSU finally returned to post-season play and even went to Atlanta and won a regional.

They followed that up in 2012 with an SEC tournament title. The foundation was laid for what is happening right now, as Mississippi St. returned to Omaha for the first time since 2007 and is now playing for their first NCAA title.
