STONE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A meeting is set for next week and may clear up confusion over whether there will be a property tax hike in Stone County.
Supervisor Daniel Harris says the board has heard that there was discussion at a recent school board meeting that would possibly raise ad valorem taxes by six mills.
However, Harris says the school board has not given supervisors a budget request in writing.
The meeting scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m. is so both groups can discuss the matter. Harris says right now half of the total budget goes to the school district.
