RAYMOND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Officials at the Raymond Detention Center are investigating a brawl over contraband that led to a stabbing at the facility that sent one inmate to the hospital.

According to Hinds County Sheriff Department Spokesperson Othor Cain, there was a confrontation Wednesday night around 10 p.m. in Pod A amongst four or five inmates over cigarettes, marijuana and a cell phone.

Inmate Joshua Nelson was stabbed and was taken to a local hospital. The hospitalized inmate did receive stitches, and was returned to the detention center where he remains in his cell.

The other inmates involved received some minor cuts and bruises.

Cain says four inmates have been identified as aggressors, but their names have not been released.

The four aggressors are on lockdown Thursday morning and the pod where the incident occurred is secure. Cain says the investigation is ongoing.
