HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A witness describes him as a "Skinny Santa" and deputies say he's got white hair and a long beard, but they're not at all talking about old Saint Nick. They're describing a man, who reportedly fled from a deputy during a traffic stop Wednesday morning.
According to Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara, that man was driving a 1987 maroon Toyota car (model wasn't released). He was stopped around 9:33 a.m. on Landon Lake Blvd. off of Canal Road in Gulfport.
Brisolara said the man fled into a wooded area around Canal Road. A perimeter was established and several deputies are assisting in the search.
Deputies have searched the man's car and reportedly found various types of identification from several U.S. states in a male's name. An investigation revealed the name used on the identification found in the car is a man wanted out of Rowan County, FL for a trafficking of controlled substance charge.
However, investigators still aren't sure who the man is.
The man is described as a white male in his early to mid 60s. He is approximately 5'9" tall and weighs 150 to 180 pounds. He was wearing blue jean overalls and an orange shirt, according to Brisolara.
Brisolara said the man may have been involved in identity theft crimes. Anyone who sees someone matching the man's description is asked to call 911 or local law enforcement.
