JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Ten Mississippi hospitals have filed a lawsuit against Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi over reduced payments for medical procedures. The hospitals claim BCBS violated it contracts with the hospitals and also tried to slip the payment changes into a "Policy Manual" instead of trying to negotiate payment changes.

The lawsuit was filed in Hinds County Circuit Court. The hospitals involved are:

  • Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson
  • Biloxi Regional Medical Center in Biloxi
  • Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon
  • Gilmore Regional Medical Center in Amory
  • Madison River Oaks Medical Center in Canton
  • Natchez Community Hospital in Natchez
  • Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale
  • River Oaks Hospital in Flowood
  • Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville
  • Woman's Hospital in Flowood

All 10 of the hospitals are owned by Health Management Associates.
