MSU Bulldogs one win away from the CWS finals

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

In the long history of Mississippi State baseball the 2013 Bulldogs are on the verge of accomplishing something no other MSU baseball team has ever achieved, a berth into the College World Series finals.

Mississippi State (50-18) jumps back into action Friday afternoon at two.  The Bulldogs meet the Oregon State-Indiana survivor.  The Beavers and Hoosiers battle in an elimination game on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs have won 10 postseason games for the first time in school history and enter Friday's game having captured five straight victories.

Coach John Cohen has relied a his bullpen all season long posting a 33-5 record with 23 saves on the season.  On Monday the Bulldogs pitchers struck out a school World Series record 14 batters.

Former Harrison Central High School standout Wes Rea said, "The story of the season is our bullpen." He added, "We just know we have to score a run or two and grab the lead and its ballgame.  This is an incredible feeling.  That is why we have so much confidence."

The Bulldogs have won two games in the College World Series for the first time since 1985.
