BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A citizens group trying to force a vote on Biloxi's baseball stadium proposal has failed to get enough signatures to bring the issue to a public vote.
The Concerned Citizens Taxpayers Coalition collected 888 signatures on petitions. The group needed 1,500 registered voters to sign the petitions.
The group raised concerns about Biloxi's plan to borrow $21 million to help build a baseball stadium at U.S. Highway 90 and I-110 in downtown Biloxi.
The Biloxi City Council has voted once in favor of the plan. A resolution on today's agenda asks that the council to move forward on issuing the bonds.
WLOX Reporter Danielle Thomas is at the Biloxi City Council meeting and will have more details later on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
