JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Some Jackson business owners called 3 On Your Side about an intersection that has had more than it's share of traffic accidents.

It's located in an area known as 5-points where Bailey Avenue crosses Woodrow Wilson near the Jackson Medical Mall. Crash scenes are all too common at this intersection.

"It's a very busy intersection and sometimes almost every week or so, we get about at least two accidents," said businessman Walid Siddig. "Sometimes in the same day we may get like two accidents."

Siddig owns a beauty supply store on the corner of Woodrow Wilson and Bailey Avenue. He says sometimes even his customers get into accidents trying to leave his parking lot and that impacts his business.

"You know, when you have a whole road blocked with police cars, ambulance, fire station for a couple of hours trying to get everything straight, everything like the whole parking lot may be  blocked here from getting in and out and it does affect us," said Siddig.

Jackson Police Department spokesperson Officer Colendula Green says, so far this year, there have been seven recorded accidents at this intersection.

"Me personally, I don't think it's nothing wrong with the lights or anything," said Siddig. "It's just people always rushing trying to beat the lights."

So, businessmen like Siddig just have one wish.

"I just wish everybody to be careful and get home safe," said Siddig.
