Monday afternoon, Ashburn Police Chief Joe Saxon said in a release that one victim remains in guarded but stable condition recovering from her life threatening wounds. The second victim was treated and released just hours after being shot.

Joshua McKelvin is in custody in connection with the shootings.

GBI agents spent most of the day processing this crime scene at the Ashburn Inn. "It was very shocking. Very shocking," said the Victim's half-brother, Levenious Robinson.

Robinson was just a few blocks away eating breakfast at a Waffle House when he received a call about his half-sister.

"They told me Marilyn had just been shot. So I got in my truck and drove to the crime scene."

When he got there, Marilyn Patterson was dead in a motel room. Police say her boyfriend, Joshua McKelvin, shot her to death. The two argued and investigators say McKelvin shot Patterson then opened fire group of people in the parking lot. One person was hit in the leg Another seriously wounded.

"I just couldn't believe it I just wanted to know if it was real," Robinson said.

Robinson say McKelvin had dated the mother of three for a few months. "That's the main question - Why? Why did he do it? Why did it happen?"

And why did he then target innocent bystanders? It's questions McKelvin will soon have to answer
