Natural causes possible in Jackson club death

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A night at a South Jackson club turned tragic early Sunday morning when a woman passed out and died.

People at the Life Bar Lounge told WLBT that the woman may have had a seizure and stopped breathing. The Life Bar Lounge is located at 3302 Terry Road.

According to Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart, the woman died of natural causes.

The coroner said the woman had a pre-existing medical condition and she did not suspect foul play.

Some of the witnesses on scene said AMR and the Jackson police were called around 2:00 a.m. or 2:30 a.m., but said it took 30 minutes to an hour for emergency crews to arrive to the club.

"If you get a 911 call emergency call you're supposed to respond to it wherever it's at if it was in a white community or whatever you'd have been there and the scene it wouldn't even be going on," said one of the witnesses on scene who knew the woman.

An AMR spokesman says they didn't receive the 911 call until 2:58 a.m. A unit was dispatched at 2:59 a.m. and arrived on the scene approximately eight minutes later.
