The trial of George Zimmerman, the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government and the U.S. government's hunt for the NSA whistle-blower are a few of the stories that caught our eye this week.

(RNN) - A chemical plant caught fire in Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday.

At least one person has died and more than 70 were injured in the explosion.

George Zimmerman was in court for the selection of the jury in his trial. Once the jury is picked, they will be sequestered for the duration of the trial. Zimmerman is accused of killing teenager Trayvon Martin during an altercation at a gated community. Zimmerman says he shot and killed Martin in self-defense.

President Barack Obama has authorized sending weapons to Syrian rebels, according to U.S. officials. The move comes after officials confirmed the Syrian government used chemical weapons on the rebels.

NSA leaker Edward Snowden is thought to be hiding in Hong Kong, according to investigators. Snowden is accused of leaking information about the NSA's operations, including collecting phone records and allegedly hacking networks across the globe.
