GULFPORT, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson man will spend the next 15 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to taking Gulfport police on a chase in a stolen car.

Darrion Tyler pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated assault, carjacking and failure to stop a motor vehicle.

Police say in April of 2012, Tyler was driving a stolen vehicle when he intentionally hit a pedestrian near the Kangaroo Gas station on Highway 49. He then hopped in another car, with a woman still inside, and led Gulport police on a chase.

District Attorney Joel Smith says Tyler had cocaine, marijuana and PCP in his system at the time of his arrest.
