Former All-American Laettner holding camp at GSW

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Former Duke basketball star Christian Laettner will host a three-day basketball camp at Georgia Southwestern this summer.

GSW and Christian Laettner Basketball Academy have announced a partnership that will bring the camp to Americus July 23-25.

"We are excited about the opportunity to partner up with Christian Laettner to bring such a great event to Americus," says GSW athletic director Jaclyn Donovan. "Our summer camp offerings continue to grow, and I have no doubt that the Christian Laettner Basketball Academy will be a hit with kids of all ages." 

The camp is open to players of all skill levels, and will focus on basketball fundamentals and offensive and defensive strategies.

"We are looking forward to partnering with a great college program there in Americus.  Jaclyn (Donovan) has done a great job in building the programs at GSW," Laettner says. "We're looking forward to putting on a great camp for the kids of the community and hope to add to what they are doing with this special event."  

Laettner, a two-time national champion at Duke, NBA All-Star, and member of the 1992 Dream Team, will lead the camp sessions, which will be from 9:00 a.m-5:00p.m. at the GSW Storm Dome. Registration is for ages 6-18, and is open to the public.

Group I: Ages 6-9, July 24-25, 9-11 a.m.

Group II: Ages 10-12, July 24-25, 12-2 p.m.

Group III: Ages 13-18, July 23-24, 3-5 p.m.

Cost for each group: $75 per camper (includes academy t-shirt)
