HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The man who pleaded guilty to stabbing a woman known to many in Bay St. Louis and Waveland as "the shrimp lady" has been sentenced to 16 years in jail, without the possibility of parole.
Larry Hurt pleaded guilty on Monday for the November 2011 attack.
Hurt told Judge Robert Clark he was drunk when he got into an argument with Ly Le over a previous business transaction. He said he stabbed her in the shoulder with a knife, then took $159 from her.
Le sells shrimp from her van in a parking lot on Highway 90 in Waveland.
Hurt faced a maximum sentence of 25 years in jail.
