The Mississippi State Bulldogs are headed to Omaha

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (WLOX) -

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are headed to the College World Series for the first time since 2007.

Monday afternoon, the Bulldogs beat the Virginia Cavaliers in the NCAA Super Regional in Charlottesville, VA. Mississippi State held off a last inning surge by the Virginia to win by a score of six to five. Sophomore pitcher Jonathan Holder, of Gulfport, got the save.

Game two started Sunday, but was suspended in the seventh inning because of lightning.
