Wiggins police investigate second trailer theft

WIGGINS, MS (WLOX) - On Monday, Wiggins police received a report from a business about a two axle trailer with a Chevy Duramax engine in it was stolen marking the second trailer theft in Wiggins since Friday.

According to Wiggins police Investigator Roger Freeman, the second trailer theft happened sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning.

Freeman said someone stole a black, single axle trailer that was carrying a green, Chuck Wagon 4X4 Boss utility vehicle and a STIHL chainsaw from W Engineering on Magnolia Drive in Wiggins.

Freeman said the estimated value of the stolen property is around $7,000.

"The owner of the business used those items to conduct his business," Freeman said. "No witnesses have come forward, yet."

The most recent trailer theft happened at business on North Magnolia Drive.

Freeman said there's a possibility the thefts are related.

"Usually when we have thefts like this an individual steals these items back to back. Then brings the stolen items to chop shops or scrap yards to trade them in for money," Freeman explained.
