GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - George County will intermittently close a section of Beesley Road in the Barton/Movella Community starting Tuesday, June 11 for road and bridge repairs. Severe weather Tuesday morning pushed the beginning of repair work back one day.
The Beesley Rd. closure will be between Dean Nursery Road and the Jackson County line. County road crews from District 3 and District 2 will repair an older bridge bulkhead which was partially damaged by Hurricane Isaac and during this year's spring storms.
Contract crews will also level out and re-asphalt several damaged spots along Beesley Road. This repair project is expected to take three weeks to complete and cost $200,000 in County funds with a majority of funds coming from District 3.
Residents will only experience intermittent closures during paving and asphalt work. During construction times, drivers can easily detour on Barton-Agricola Road or Highway 613.
All drivers are asked to use caution around this construction site. Pay special attention to traffic signs, road workers and heavy equipment.
