CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The man accused in the murders of two elderly victims in Clinton is scheduled to be in Clinton Municipal Court later this month.

According to Clinton Interim Police Chief Mike Warren, Willie Williams Jr., 47, of Clinton, will be in court June 24 at 1 p.m. in connection to the murders of a Clinton couple killed Thursday night.

The murder victims were identified as Arthur Hodge, 89, and his 86-year-old wife, Maxine Hodge. Stewart confirms both victims were stabbed and Arthur Hodge suffered blunt force trauma.

The couple lived in a home at 500 Brookwood drive.

Interim Police Chief Warren, says Williams told authorities with the Jackson Police Department that he killed the couple around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Hinds county prosecutors say this isn't the first time Williams confessed to a violent crime.  District Attorney Robert Smith says in 2005 he was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison, with five years suspended, for an aggravated assault.

"The victim in that case in 04' survived a brutal attack in her bathroom, where he stabbed her multiple times in the chest and the victim received over 30 stitches," said Smith.

Clinton police were notified around 2:51 a.m. Friday morning by the Jackson Police Department that they had a person in custody that claimed to have killed someone in Clinton.

Williams led Jackson police to the home where the bodies were discovered. The murder suspect knew the couple and may have done odd jobs for them from time to time. It is believed that there was a disagreement over money and that may have led to the murders.

Warren confirms it is now believed that the relationship between the victims and suspect had been off and on for several years. Williams had performed some work in the past but over the last year, had not worked, but had borrowed money from the victims.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting Clinton Police with the crime scene.
