GREENE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A six-year-old girl who fell into an old, abandoned well Thursday morning in Greene County is free. Officials aren't releasing any information on her condition yet, but she was responsive and talking to crews during the rescue operation.
Officials with the Greene County Sheriff's Department said the child was believed to be from out of state, and was with other children on a field trip at Eubanks Produce Farms. A spokesperson for the farm was expected to offer more details about the accident this afternoon.
The old well is about 14 to 16 inches in diameter, and 20 feet deep. Crews were using backhoes and ropes to carefully free her.
WLOX News has a crew on the scene and will have more details on this amazing rescue later today.
