Long Beach Police Chief: Drowning victim is elderly man

LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - Long Beach Police Chief Wayne McDowell says an elderly man drowned Wednesday afternoon.

McDowell says the drowning happened at a home located at the 19000 block of 28th Street in Long Beach. According to McDowell, the daughter of the 87-year-old found him in a pond behind the home around noon.

Long Beach police are investigating. At this time, McDowell says he does not suspect foul play.

"He was the only person home when he was found in a good sized pond located behind the home," McDowell said.

The man's full identity has not been released yet.
