Superbowl Party Dips

Here are some ideas to satisfy those "GIANT" appetites and sure to leave your Super Bowl guests "RAVEN" about what you served. Don't forget basic food safety.

  • Keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold.
  • Wash your hands often.
  • If you make a large amount of food, only put reasonable amounts of it out at a time to keep it safer longer.

SAUSAGE FRENCH BREAD DIP

  • 1 loaf French bread, hulled out
  • (save pieces to dip with)
  • 1 (8 oz.) sour cream
  • 1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
  • 1 lb. Mild bulk sausage
  • (scrambled and drained)
  • 1 small can green chilies
  • 1 (8 oz.) shredded Cheddar
  • cheese

Mix all ingredients with cooked sausage, stirring well. Pour into hulled out French bread loaf and top with a little more grated Cheddar cheese. Bake at 350F for 1 hour, covered in foil. Toast hulled out bread pieces for dipping. Can also use corn chips to dip.

HUDDLE DIP

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 (4 oz.) can chopped green chilies
  • 1 (15 oz.) can Mexican corn
  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped
  • 3 cups grated cheese

Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Refrigerate. Sprinkle top with paprika and serve with crackers or chips. Serves 20

FLAVORED POPCORN

Pop your favorite kind of popcorn as you normally do, be it microwave, air popped or in a popcorn popper. Place popped kernels in a large bowl. Sprinkle with one of the following:

  • Dry salad dressing mix such as ranch or French onion
  • Powdered fruit drink mix
  • Taco seasoning

Place lid on bowl. Shake until kernels are covered to your satisfaction. Enjoy!

TEXAS STYLE DIP

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 (1 ¼ oz.) package taco seasoning
  • 2 cups red kidney beans
  • 3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped
  • 2 medium size tomatoes, chopped
  • Ripe black olives to taste, chopped
  • 1 large bag of corn chips

First layer: Spread refried beans into large, flat serving dish. Second layer: Mix mayonnaise, sour cream and taco seasoning together. Spread on top of refried beans. Third layer: Sprinkle kidney beans onto mixture. Fourth to Seventh layer: Sprinkle Cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, tomatoes and black olives on top. Use corn chips to dip. Serves 12.

SUPER BOWL DIP

  • 1 lb. Hamburger meat
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can mushroom soup
  • small green peppers
  • 1 small onion
  • 3 jalapeño peppers
  • 1 lb. Velveeta cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Brown beef, onions, and peppers. Drain well. Add other ingredients, simmer and stir. Good with nacho chips.

YOGURT FRUIT DIP

  • 1 (8 oz.) low-calorie cream cheese,
  • softened
  • 1 (8 oz.) cup low-fat plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. grated lemon rind
  • 14 packets of artificial sweetener

Combine softened cream cheese and yogurt. Blend until smooth; stir in remaining ingredients. Chill and serve with fresh fruit. Note: For variety, you can use 1 (8 oz.) carton of cream cheese with pineapple instead of the low-calorie cream cheese.
