Moran reelected as mayor of Ocean Springs

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran (D) won her third term in office Tuesday night.

Moran won with 62 percent of the vote in one of the most hotly contested mayoral races in South Mississippi.

Moran thanked her supporters on Facebook Tuesday night writing, "Thank you, Ocean Springs for your vote of confidence in me and in the work we have done and will continue to do together for the next four years! With 62% of the vote, I am humbled. You know that I feel that you--all of you--are my family. I love Ocean Springs. Thank you!"

Moran was first elected mayor of Ocean Springs in June of 2005. She began her second term as mayor in July of 2009. Moran has one daughter, Magdeleine.

The Ocean Springs native holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Finance/Economics and International Commerce from Georgetown University, where she graduated cum laude.
