Sam Compston decided it was time for a change. He built a winning softball program at Stone High School over the past 13 seasons.
He's now ready to take on a new challenge becoming the head coach at D'Iberville. Compston said. "It was time to move on and take on a new opportunity competing in Class 6A."
Compston believes D'Iberville has the athletes that should be and will be in the hunt for a district title every year.
He says he leaves behind fond memories at Stone High.
Compston stated, "I was humbled by the effort the girls at Stone put in every day and that we were able to compete and vie for district titles every year."
He said 50 percent of the girls he coached went on to compete in junior college or four-year institutions. He added, "The girls proved that if you work hard enough you can succeed."
