I-10 west cleared after multiple vehicle accidents in Jackson Co.

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Traffic was backed up on the westbound lanes of I-10 near Highway 613 Monday afternoon following multiple vehicle accidents, according to officials.

Moss Point Fire Chief Clarence Parks said it all happened after a driver pulled out in front of traffic and started a chain reaction of accidents.

Seven vehicles and one 18-wheeler were involved in the accidents.

He said there were three separate accidents. The accidents covered parts of I-10 west near Highway 613 to the Long Bridge.

Parks said a pregnant mother and her daughter were sent to the hospital for minor injuries. The westbound lanes of I-10 in Jackson County were closed, but have reopened.
