SLIDELL, LA (WLOX) - A Carriere woman was arrested for DWI over the weekend, not once, but twice, in less than 24 hours.
Slidell Police said her first arrest happened early Saturday morning around 2:30am. An officer noticed a red 2002 Saturn swerving on Front Street. When the officer stopped the vehicle, Marjorie Portier, 26, said she had just left a party at a bar.
Police said a breath test showed Portier's blood alcohol content was over twice the legal limit. She was charged with First Offense Driving While Intoxicated and Improper Lane Usage.
Portier was then stopped again on Sunday morning around 1:50am after police said she was speeding and swerving down Gause Boulevard. The arresting officer said Portier showed signs of being intoxicated, and pleaded with the officer not to go to jail for a second night in a row.
Portier was arrested for Second Offense Driving While Intoxicated, Speeding, Improper Lane Usage, and Improper Turning.
In the last month, the Slidell Police Department has made 28 DWI arrests.
