Man shot in head drives self to Jackson hospital

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police are searching for a gunman who shot another man in the head early Monday morning.

The shooting happened at 3:17 a.m. near the intersection of Derrick Street and Gordon Street.

According to Officer Colendula Green, a 25-year-old man, who police are not identifying at this time, was driving through the area when he spotted another man standing on the roadside with a gun.

The suspect fired at the driver, striking him in the head. The victim was able to drive himself to the hospital and was conscious at last check.

Police do not have a motive at this time and have not commented on whether the men know each other in any way. Police have not released a suspect description of the alleged shooter.
