SMITH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Smith County sheriff confirms that authorities have captured escaped inmate Terry Bynum after a week of searching for the inmate.

Bynum was found hiding in a utility truck at Mize High School, located at 125 School Drive, in the overnight hours of Monday morning.

Smith County deputies apprehended Bynum with assistance from the Mize Police Department. Officials did not comment on what led them to the Mize High School area to search for Bynum.

Bynum escaped the Smith County jail a week ago by scaling a 12 foot razor wire fence along with two other inmates who were quickly recaptured. This is Bynum's second escape.
