GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Two weeks ago, tragedy struck in Moore, Oklahoma. In the aftermath of the F-5 tornado that ripped through the small town, a Gulfport business has devised a plan to help.

Fidelis Realty has teamed up with John Fayard Moving and Warehousing to fill a 40 foot container with supplies for the victims.

Jimmy Adams, Senior Vice President for Fayard, said it's the company's first time doing something like this, but they are pleased to help.

"A lot of people don't understand. They think they understand, but unless it actually happened to you, you really don't know," Adams said.

One of the people spearheading the effort at Fidelis Realty, is Dee Salvas. She told WLOX that the decision to help was easy, especially after having gone through the nightmare of Hurricane Katrina.

"We just felt that we were so blessed after the storm that we need to be able to give back to the community up there, because everybody was so willing, across the country to come back and help us," Salvas said.

They are very thankful for all of the donations they have received so far, but they are in desperate need of non-perishable food items, baby food, pet food, and personal hygiene products.

Donations will be collected all of next week at the following locations:

Fidelis Realty - 1107 Cowan Rd Gulfport, MS 39507

Chris Beauty College - 1265 Pass Rd Gulfport, MS 39501
