MEDINA COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Georgia woman is facing a felony drug charge after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized marijuana, worth more than $6,000, during a traffic stop on an interstate in Medina County Saturday morning.

Troopers stopped a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan with Ohio registration for a speed violation on Interstate 71 near milepost 204 at 10:40 a.m. After a registration check of the vehicle, troopers discovered a felony warrant for larceny for the vehicle's co-owner.

A Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed a personal handbag containing four separate plastic bags of marijuana weighing 1.3 pounds, worth approximately $6,200.

Brandy Bates, 28, of Marietta, GA, was incarcerated in the Medina County Jail and charged with possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony.
