Correction: Fatal accident victim not a teenager

HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A fatal accident in Hancock County left one person dead Tuesday night. But the person's name and age has not been released. WLOX previously reported that the victim was a 14-year-old from Hancock County, but that information was incorrect.

Lieutenant Johnny Poulos with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the accident happened on Highway 603 near Cuevas Town Road.

He said a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer was heading north on Highway 603 when the vehicle crossed the center lines and entered the southbound lane. The SUV then ran off the road, into a ditch, then collided with a fence and then a tree.

Poulos said one person was in the vehicle and was taken to Gulfport Memorial Hospital, but did not survive. No other cars were involved.
