Coroner releases identity of 3-year-old drowning victim

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Jackson County Coroner Vicki Broadus confirmed the 3-year-old drowning victim is Pierce Cartwright.

According to Byrd the child drowned in a pool at a home in Gulf Park Estates in the St. Andrews community. While Byrd says the child's death appears to be accidental, an investigation is underway.

Broadus said the 3-year-old was declared dead at the Ocean Springs hospital emergency room shortly after noon on Saturday.
