Southaven beats Harrison Central to win the 6A State baseball championship

PEARL, MS (WLOX) -

Southaven jumped out of the gate quickly in the top of the first inning with 4 runs.  One of the runs scored on a wild pitch and another scored on a throwing error.

Harrison Central closed the gap 4-2  in the bottom of the first with an RBI single off the bat of Bryant Johnston that scored Derrick Mount and the Red Rebels received a gift from the Chargers on an error on the shortstop that scored Justin Barna.

Southaven put the game away in the top of the 7th inning with 4 more runs and would prevail 8-2.

Coach Pat Olmi and his Harrison Central Red Rebels close out a good season with 28 wins and 5 losses.   They also captured the first-ever 6A South State baseball title for Harrison Central.

The Red Rebels will lose a number of highly talented players who helped propel Harrison Central into one of the elite high school baseball programs in the state.
