Pascagoula drops an 11-9 decision to New Hope in 5A State Finals

PEARL, MS (WLOX) - If Pascagoula is going to repeat as the 5A State baseball champions, the Panthers will have to win two consecutive games, repeating what they did in 2012.

The Panthers (21-14) trailed 9-3 after five innings and caught fire plating six runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game.

New Hope (26-8) would score two runs in the bottom of the sixth.  Tee Payne belted a triple that plated one run and Rooke Coleman's single drove in an insurance run.

Pascagoula coach Richie Tillman said, "It's deja vu all over again." He added, "I feel great about our chances. We're not going to give up."

The battle for the 5A Title is not over and the Panthers get another shot at New Hope on Friday and WLOX will be there.
