New retirement community to open in Biloxi on June 6

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

A date has been set for when the Santa Maria del Mar retirement community will open.

WLOX News has learned a grand opening and dedication are set for June 6. The twin six-story towers are just off of Popp's Ferry Road in Biloxi. There are 208 units.

The new towers will replace the tower on Highway 90 at Main Street in Biloxi that was heavily damaged in Hurricane Katrina.

There are no existing plans right now to demolish the old tower.
