LUCEDALE, MS (WLOX) - On Saturday, the George County Sheriff's Department arrested a man wanted for failure to pay thousands in child support.
According to George County Sheriff Dean Howell, James Decker III, 32, of George County was arrested during a checkpoint on Highway 613 and Tannertown Road intersections in the Agricola Community.
Decker will now have to serve 75 days in George County Regional Jail. According to Howell, he'll also have to pay a purge amount which is usually 25-50 percent of the back child support owed.
Before Decker can be released from jail he'll have to pay that purge amount. However, paying the purge amount doesn't clear him of what he still owes. He will still have to pay the remainder of the back child support.
Howell said Decker was previously arrested for possession of methamphetamine and manufacture of methamphetamine.
Another person wanted for failure to pay $3,900 in child support is 39-year-old Darrin O. Hayes of George County.
A warrant is out for his arrest. Howell said once Hayes is arrested he'll have to serve 90 days in jail and pay the purge amount before he can be released.
Anyone with information on Hayes' whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898 or the sheriff's office at 601 947-4811.
