HSSM to assist in animal rescue on Monday

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - This morning a Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM) team is meeting with law enforcement agents about assisting in an animal rescue.

HSSM released few details on the Monday rescue.

They wouldn't release which law enforcement agency they are assisting and where they will be going. HSSM's Krystyna Szczechowski confirmed the underdetermined number of animals are coming from desperate circumstances.

She also said she isn't sure what kinds of animals would be rescued. However, she said, HSSM is capable of rescuing larger animals.

"These animals will most likely need specialized care, so freeing up the flex space in HSSM's facility is vital to providing the highest quality care to the incoming animals," Szczechowski said.

HSSM is currently housing more than 50 cats and kittens that need foster or permanent homes. Those felines are filling the flex space. Anyone interested in fostering or adopting a kitten or cat should contact HSSM at 228-822-3803.

WLOX is following this animal rescue. We'll have more details on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
