BYRAM, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Multiple people were injured in a crash at Terry and Siwell roads in Byram Thursday night.

Byram Police Commander David Errington says a Chevy Avalanche was traveling westbound on Siwell Road when the driver suffered a seizure and hit the gas. The Chevy rear-ended a small vehicle that was stopped at the red light at Terry and Siwell roads.

The collision pushed the small vehicle into the parking lot of McDonald's. The Chevy traveled through grass and down an embankment before crashing into the McDonald's near the restaurant's play area. Multiple windows of the building broke.

Errington said the driver of the Chevy Avalanche had to be extricated from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life. He was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

One adult and two juveniles in the other vehicle were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Errington said witnesses reported a child was in the play area at the time of the crash and was possibly injured by glass. She reportedly left with her parents.
