Mississippi's 2012 top baby names announced

Thursday the Social Security Administration released the list of the most popular baby names in Mississippi in 2012.

Once again William made the top of the list for most popular baby boy names. A total of 225 boys were named William in 2012. William has been the number one name for baby boys in the state since 1999.

Coming in second, 205 boys were named Mason. This is up from eighth place in 2011. John, James and Jayden were also in the top five for boys.

For the first time since 2001, the most popular baby girl name has changed. A total of 159 girls were named Emma in 2012.

After more than a decade at the top of the girl's list, Madison fell to second place. Ava, Olivia and Chloe rounded out the top five for girls.

Nationally Sophia and Jacob were the most popular baby names in 2012.
